From Overwhelmed to Empowered — Understand and Maintain Your RV the Right Way

With over half a million new RVs sold each year, more owners than ever are hitting the road — often without fully understanding the systems that power their home on wheels. As RVs become more advanced and complex, the need for practical, real-world knowledge has never been greater.

The Educated RV Owner Course is designed specifically for RV owners who want to travel with confidence. Whether you want to better understand your electrical and propane systems, avoid costly repair bills, troubleshoot common issues, or simply feel more self-reliant on the road, this course gives you hands-on knowledge you can actually use.

This isn’t an online overview or surface-level workshop. The National RV Training Academy emphasizes hands-on learning with real equipment and real systems, helping you gain clarity and confidence in how your RV truly works.

Program Overview

The Educated RV Owner Course is designed to give RV owners a strong foundation in how their RV truly works. The program begins with a hands-on RV Fundamentals class, where you’ll learn the core systems that power, protect, and operate your RV.

From there, you’ll gain practical training in essential areas such as electrical systems, propane operation, plumbing, water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, and exterior components. You’ll not only understand how these systems function — you’ll learn how to recognize problems early, troubleshoot common issues, and avoid costly repairs.

For those who want to expand their knowledge even further, optional advanced learning opportunities include solar power and generator systems.

Stop Waiting. Start Understanding.

RV ownership should feel freeing — not frustrating. Yet many owners find themselves waiting weeks for service appointments, cutting into precious travel time and peak camping season. When something stops working, plans stall.

The reality is that most common RV issues don’t start as major failures. They start small — a system not understood, routine maintenance overlooked, a warning sign missed. The difference between a smooth trip and a costly repair often comes down to knowledge.

The Educated RV Owner Course helps you take control. Instead of waiting for availability at a dealership or scrambling for last-minute repairs, you’ll understand how your RV systems work, how to identify problems early, and how to make informed decisions with confidence.

Travel more. Stress less. Know your RV.

“If you manage it like a business, promote it like a business and follow through on what you say you’re going to do, a mobile RV technician can make a very comfortable living.”

About our Facility

The National RV Training Academy is the only RV Technical career school with an RV park campus. Staying at the Texan RV Park is not a requirement but was designed intentionally to allow students to keep their RV and family close, develop relationships with other students, and spend time unpacking the day's sessions together around a campfire. Don’t have an RV? No problem, we have plenty of cabins and Tiny Homes to stay in during your training.

  • Food trucks and group meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Cabins & Tiny Homes available for those without RVs
  • Events for your spouse
  • Fishing ponds
  • Walking paths

The National RV Training Academy understands the RV community, many of our staff are full-time or part-time RVers. We’ve scheduled events for your spouse while you're at class. We bring in specialty food trucks for meals at the end of the day. We’ve been told this is more than an education, it’s an experience every RVer needs to go through.
