You must be a graduate of the Basic RV Maintenance Course in order to attend any of the advanced courses.

Advanced Training - Week # 5 - Exterior Systems - 5 Days / 10 Hours per day

Classroom

  • Theory and operation of electric and hydraulic slide outs & leveling systems
  • Identify the types of materials and construction techniques for roofs & sidewalls
  • Identify the components of the running gear (axles, suspension and tires)

Hands-On Labs

Identifying the most common issues and repair procedures for slide outs:
Types/drive - Override and troubleshooting procedures for

  • Schwintek dual motor and track bars
  • Hydraulic ram and pump system
  • Cable drive with electric motor/gearbox
  • Electric motor screw drive
  • Electric geared motors

Leveling and Slide out Systems
Types/drive - Override and troubleshooting procedures for

  • Hydraulic ram
  • Electric motor with gear box
  • Stabilizer jacks – manual and electric Running Gear
  • Electric motor with screw

Leveling and Slide out Systems
Types and most common issues found with

  • Axles
  • Suspension
  • Tires

Roofs
Types and most common issues found with

  • Rubber roofing / EPDM
  • TPO
  • PVC Vinyl
  • Fiberglass sheeting
  • Repair Procedures and sealants
  • Aftermarket sealants, tape and coatings

Sidewalls

  • Construction types of walls, windows and doors.

Final Exam will require hands-on troubleshooting and repairing of defective RV Exterior Systems. Requires a passing Grade of 70% or better to receive credit for this class.
