For years, Oscar followed the familiar routine — long hours, little flexibility, and the feeling that something was missing. “I was trying to put two and two together,” he said. “I wanted a way to travel, to see more of the world, but still have a reliable source of income.”
That search led him to a local RV show in Dallas, Texas, where he first heard about the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA). The idea of learning a hands-on trade that offered freedom and stability instantly caught his attention. “It just made sense,” Oscar said. “I could do something I enjoy, keep moving, and not be tied to a desk.”
Learning by Doing
Oscar enrolled in NRVTA’s RV Fundamentals course, the school’s cornerstone program designed for both new RV owners and aspiring technicians.
“The Fundamentals class was amazing,” he said. “They really helped ease my nerves. I’ve always been the kind of person who learns by doing — I need to physically touch things, take them apart, and see how they work. That’s exactly what this course is built for.”
At NRVTA, students don’t just listen to lectures — they work on real RV systems in live, hands-on labs. From electrical circuits and water heaters to air conditioners and furnaces, Oscar was able to experience every system up close.
“What I loved most was learning how to connect what we studied in theory to real-world repairs,” he explained. “It’s one thing to read about how a converter works, but it’s another to actually test one with your own hands. That’s when it clicks.”
Confidence Through Hands-On Training
For Oscar, the transformation was more than technical — it was personal.
“The instructors were incredible,” he said. “They put in so much effort to make sure we understood not just how things work, but why. You leave here feeling confident — like you actually know what to do.”
That confidence inspired him to look at the RV industry as a long-term opportunity, not just a short-term skill. “Coming out of NRVTA, you’re one of the best-trained technicians out there,” he said. “And what you can make out in the field easily surpasses what you ever pay for these courses. It’s completely worth it.”
A New Lifestyle, Not Just a Career
Oscar now looks forward to a future where work and travel go hand in hand. “The RV industry gives you the chance to make a living while exploring,” he said. “You’re helping people get back on the road — and that feels good.”
He credits NRVTA for giving him the tools to make it happen. “If you’re thinking about it, stop thinking and just do it,” Oscar said. “This school will give you the confidence, the hands-on skills, and the path forward. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
