From Construction to Certified RV Technician - Josley’s Family Journey at NRVTA

For over 20 years, Josley worked in construction — building homes, managing crews, and working long hours. But after two decades, he wanted more flexibility, more time with family, and a way to combine his love for travel with a meaningful new career.

“I’ve been full-timing for about three years now with my wife, two kids, and our two miniature Chihuahuas,” he said with a smile. “We love this lifestyle, and I started to see how big the RV industry is getting. That’s what led me to the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA).”

A Hands-On Education That Changes Everything

Josley didn’t just take one course — he took them all. Over nine weeks in Athens, Texas, he completed training in every major system, from electrical and water heaters to air conditioners, furnaces, and solar power.

“I decided to take all of the classes,” he explained. “Today, I’m already a certified RV technician and inspector, and this is my last week — I’m finishing up the solar class. It’s been amazing.”

The biggest difference for Josley was the hands-on approach. “I’ve always been a hands-on learner, and this school is built for that,” he said. “You’re not just sitting in a classroom — you’re taking things apart, testing systems, and troubleshooting real problems. That’s how I learn best.”

Confidence to Build a Business

Now, Josley is excited to start his own mobile RV service and inspection business, combining everything he’s learned to help others stay safe on the road.

“I know there are so many RV owners out there who don’t have a clue how their systems work,” he said. “Being able to help them understand and fix those issues — that’s what drives me. I want to give people peace of mind and confidence in their rigs.”

Thanks to his certification through NRVTA and the RV Technician Association of America (RVTAA) and National RV Inspectors Association (NRVIA), Josley knows he has both the skills and credibility to succeed.

A Family Adventure on the Road Ahead

For Josley and his family, this is more than a career move — it’s a lifestyle choice. “We’re all excited for the future,” he said. “This path lets us travel, meet new people, and explore this beautiful country together.”

He encourages anyone thinking about a similar change to take the leap. “If you’re even considering coming to NRVTA, do it,” he said. “You’ll be blessed by the people here — the instructors, the staff, the other students. It’s more than a school; it’s a community that wants you to succeed.”

Building a Future with Purpose

From the construction site to the open road, Josley has found a new purpose — helping others and creating freedom for his family. “The RV industry is growing, and there’s so much opportunity out there,” he said. “NRVTA gave me the skills and confidence to be part of it.”

His story is proof that it’s never too late to build something new — not just a career, but a life filled with adventure, purpose, and family.
