For years, this couple lived full-time in their RV and loved every minute of the lifestyle — until something broke.
“We saw the need, especially in our area,” they said. “People couldn’t get their rigs serviced for at least 18 months. The first time we had to call a technician, it took months for them to come out and repair our RV.”
That frustration became their turning point. Instead of continuing to wait for help, they decided to learn how to repair and maintain their RVs themselves.
Learning to Do It Right
“I’ve always been the kind of person who can fix things with bailing wire and duct tape,” he joked. “But I wanted to learn how to do it the right way.”
They discovered the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA) in Athens, Texas, a hands-on training center known for turning RV owners into skilled professionals.
“The best part about this place is the hands-on experience,” they explained. “You’re not just sitting in a classroom — you’re actually taking apart air conditioners, water heaters, and slide systems, learning how everything works step by step.”
Training Together
For this couple, the experience wasn’t just about learning new skills — it was about doing it together.
“We’ve spent years living on the road and wanted something meaningful to share,” they said. “Learning side by side, working on systems together — it gave us a whole new level of confidence and teamwork.”
Through NRVTA’s technician and inspection programs, they gained a full understanding of how RVs operate, how to diagnose problems correctly, and how to serve others safely and professionally.
Bringing Knowledge Back to the Community
Now, instead of waiting months for a repair appointment, they’re using their new skills to help other RV owners.
“The programs through NRVTA and NRVIA work hand in hand,” they said. “It’s like getting a complete look at your RV — think of it as a detailed report similar to a Carfax, but for your home on wheels.”
They’re now launching their own mobile service and inspection business, focused on helping families get back on the road faster.
“If you’re waiting for a sign to do this — this is it,” they said. “There’s nothing stopping you. And if you’re not ready to come down here to learn, that’s okay. Give us a call — we’ll come fix your rig for you!”
A Life of Purpose and Freedom
Their story shows that learning RV repair isn’t just about fixing things — it’s about gaining freedom, confidence, and the ability to help others.
At NRVTA, they found more than an education; they found a community and a new direction in life.
