Sabrina had spent years maintaining a big home before realizing she was ready for a simpler life.
“I retired about a year ago and decided I didn’t want to live in a big house anymore,” she said. “So, I bought an RV.”
That decision opened a whole new world of travel and freedom — until her air conditioner broke during a hot Texas day.
“It was going to be months before anyone could come out to fix it,” she said. “That’s when I decided, I want to learn how to do this myself.”
Finding the Right School
One day, Sabrina noticed a neighbor with an inspection sign featuring NRVTA certifications. Curious, she asked where it came from.
“He told me about the National RV Training Academy and how much he learned there,” she said. “I looked into it, and once I realized I could attend, I was all in.”
That’s how Sabrina found herself in Athens, Texas, surrounded by RVs, tools, and instructors ready to guide her through everything from troubleshooting to full system repairs.
Learning That Empowers
Sabrina started with RV Fundamentals, the NRVTA’s foundation course that teaches students every major RV system from top to bottom.
“When I worked on water heaters and furnaces, the instructors made it really easy to understand,” she said. “It was the same for air conditioners, refrigerators, and exterior systems. I never thought I’d be able to do electrical work or fix a slide-out — but now I can.”
Each day brought a new challenge and a new sense of accomplishment.
“The hands-on part was huge for me,” she explained. “Actually touching the parts and seeing how they work made all the difference. I’ve learned so much and feel confident now.”
Confidence That Travels
What started as frustration turned into empowerment. Now, when something goes wrong with her RV, Sabrina doesn’t panic — she grabs her tools.
“Every time I fix something, I think, ‘Wow, I can do that!’” she said. “It’s such a good feeling knowing I can handle it myself.”
That confidence has changed how she travels, giving her more independence and peace of mind wherever the road takes her.
A New Chapter of Freedom
For Sabrina, learning at NRVTA was about more than fixing appliances — it was about gaining control of her lifestyle.
“The National RV Training Academy gave me the knowledge to take care of my own rig,” she said. “That’s real freedom.”
Her story is one of empowerment and self-reliance — proof that anyone can gain the confidence to take charge of their RV experience with the right training and guidance.
