For Quinn, adventure has always been more than a hobby — it’s a way of life. Growing up, Quinn spent much of his time traveling across the United States, developing a deep love for exploration and meeting new people. His early passion for travel inspired him to pursue a degree in hospitality, where he could help others experience the joy of adventure.
But as he progressed through college, Quinn realized that while hospitality was about serving others, he wanted a more hands-on way to do it. “I started to realize more as I got into college that it would be amazing to help others adventure,” he said. That realization eventually led him to the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA) in Athens, Texas, where he’s now training to become a Certified Mobile RV Technician.
A Career That Combines Service and Freedom
The RV industry offered Quinn exactly what he was looking for — a career that merges service, travel, and independence. As a mobile RV technician, he can travel the country while helping RV owners stay on the road, performing repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting wherever it’s needed.
“I’ve always loved the idea of freedom and exploration,” Quinn explained. “Being a mobile RV technician gives me a way to keep traveling while making a living helping others.”
At NRVTA, Quinn found a program that not only delivers world-class technical training but also fosters the entrepreneurial skills needed to succeed in the growing RV service industry.
Business Training That Builds Real Confidence
One of the biggest surprises for Quinn was how much business education was built into the NRVTA curriculum. Each morning begins with training sessions that focus on marketing, customer service, pricing, and running a mobile RV repair business.
“One of the things I wasn’t predicting but has been such a welcome surprise is the business aspect of the class,” he said. “It’s incredibly helpful to learn not just how to repair RVs but how to run your own business doing it.”
This unique blend of technical and business training helps NRVTA students launch independent service businesses right after graduation. With thousands of RV owners across the country and a shortage of qualified technicians, graduates are entering a high-demand market where opportunities for mobile repair professionals continue to grow.
Condensed, Clear, and Applicable Learning
Quinn also praised the clarity and structure of NRVTA’s hands-on training. “Being able to have all of this condensed into really applicable and non-gibberish education has been so valuable,” he said.
At NRVTA, students learn by doing. Each course includes lab sessions where they work directly on real RV systems — electrical, propane, plumbing, solar, and more. The instructors, many of whom are industry veterans, make complex systems approachable and teach in a way that connects theory to real-world problem-solving.
Preparing for a Life on the Road
After completing his training, Quinn plans to launch his own mobile RV repair business and eventually live full-time in his own RV. His goal is to travel, work, and help other RVers keep their homes-on-wheels running smoothly.
“I want to take this business on the road and live in my own rig,” Quinn said. “This program has given me the confidence and skills to do that.”
His story is part of a growing trend among younger professionals who are trading office jobs for mobile careers that allow them to work and explore simultaneously.
