Like many new RV owners, Chris wanted to make sure he understood his rig inside and out. After buying his first RV, he began searching online for maintenance tutorials. That’s when he stumbled across a bearded instructor explaining how RV systems work — and discovered the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA) in Athens, Texas.
“I started looking into the program, and before I knew it, I was enrolled,” Chris said. “I wanted to learn how to repair and maintain my own RV — but I also wanted to take it a step further and become certified.”
Hands-On Learning That Builds Confidence
Chris began with NRVTA’s Fundamentals Course, which covers every major RV system from top to bottom. Once he completed that, he advanced into the full Certified RV Technician track.
“I’ve worked on air conditioners, furnaces, refrigerators, exteriors, and so much more,” he said. “A big part of my learning style is seeing something done — then doing it myself. The hands-on experience here really drives it home.”
Every NRVTA course is designed around real-world application. Students don’t just watch demonstrations; they use actual components, tools, and diagnostic equipment.
“Having all the resources and training equipment available made a huge difference,” Chris explained. “It not only helped me build knowledge but also gave me confidence. When you’ve actually taken something apart and put it back together, you know what to do when it counts.”
Turning Education Into Opportunity
What began as a personal goal for Chris quickly evolved into a professional opportunity. With his new certification, he’s now able to help others who need reliable, knowledgeable RV service.
“Being a certified RV technician carries a lot of weight,” he said. “It’s proof that you’ve been trained to industry standards, and it shows customers they can trust you to get the job done right.”
For Chris, the investment in training has paid off — not just financially, but in peace of mind. “I’m so glad I had the chance to experience this,” he added. “The instructors, the resources, the support — everything about NRVTA has exceeded my expectations.”
A Strong Foundation for the Future
Now, Chris feels equipped to handle any challenge that comes his way — whether it’s fixing his own RV or helping other travelers stay on the road.
“I would highly recommend NRVTA to anyone who owns an RV or wants to get into this industry,” he said. “The training, the hands-on experience, and the community here make it worth every minute.”
