After more than 30 years in the telecommunications industry, Brenda from Prince Edward Island, Canada, was ready for something new.
“I’ve been traveling for the last five years since I retired,” she said. “I’m an avid RVer and absolutely love this lifestyle.”
But when small repairs and maintenance started to add up, Brenda wanted to feel more independent. She wanted to understand her RV inside and out — and she wanted other women to feel that same empowerment.
Discovering NRVTA
“I was watching a lot of YouTube videos about RV maintenance, and everyone kept mentioning the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA),” Brenda recalled. “They all spoke so highly of it that I decided to check it out for myself.”
Before coming to Texas, Brenda started with the RV Tech Course — a home study program available online through RVTechCourse.com.
“I learned so much from that program,” she said. “Just from the online training, I was able to fix my hot water heater, repair my furnace, and even change the oil in my generator.”
Those small victories built her confidence — and inspired her to take the next step.
Making the Trip from Canada to Texas
Traveling from Prince Edward Island to Athens, Texas, isn’t exactly a short drive. But for Brenda, the journey was worth every mile.
“I came a long way to get here,” she said, smiling. “Totally worth the trip.”
At NRVTA, Brenda found a welcoming environment where learning was hands-on and approachable.
“The instructors were patient and encouraging,” she said. “You’re not just reading about systems — you’re taking them apart, testing them, and putting them back together. You leave here knowing you can handle whatever comes your way.”
Empowering Solo Women Travelers
For Brenda, this wasn’t just about self-reliance — it was about inspiring others.
“I want solo women travelers to be inspired and empowered,” she said. “I want them to know they can do this. You don’t have to rely on someone else when something breaks. You can learn it, fix it, and keep moving forward.”
Her message is clear: “Be brave. Stretch your comfort zone. Come here to the NRVTA, do the Fundamentals course, and become empowered to live the dream.”
A New Kind of Freedom
Today, Brenda continues to travel full-time, but now with a new level of confidence and capability.
“What I love about NRVTA is that it gives you real skills,” she said. “Whether you’re an RVer who just wants to understand your own rig, or someone looking to start a new career, you leave here ready for whatever comes next.”
Her story represents a growing movement — one where RV owners, and especially women, are taking control of their own journeys.
“It’s not just about fixing your RV,” Brenda said. “It’s about fixing your mindset — realizing you’re capable of more than you think.”
