How Brenda Gained Confidence to Fix Her Own RV - Empowering Solo Women Travelers at NRVTA

After more than 30 years in the telecommunications industry, Brenda from Prince Edward Island, Canada, was ready for something new.

โ€œIโ€™ve been traveling for the last five years since I retired,โ€ she said. โ€œIโ€™m an avid RVer and absolutely love this lifestyle.โ€

But when small repairs and maintenance started to add up, Brenda wanted to feel more independent. She wanted to understand her RV inside and out โ€” and she wanted other women to feel that same empowerment.

Discovering NRVTA

โ€œI was watching a lot of YouTube videos about RV maintenance, and everyone kept mentioning the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA),โ€ Brenda recalled. โ€œThey all spoke so highly of it that I decided to check it out for myself.โ€

Before coming to Texas, Brenda started with the RV Tech Course โ€” a home study program available online through RVTechCourse.com.

โ€œI learned so much from that program,โ€ she said. โ€œJust from the online training, I was able to fix my hot water heater, repair my furnace, and even change the oil in my generator.โ€

Those small victories built her confidence โ€” and inspired her to take the next step.

Making the Trip from Canada to Texas

Traveling from Prince Edward Island to Athens, Texas, isnโ€™t exactly a short drive. But for Brenda, the journey was worth every mile.

โ€œI came a long way to get here,โ€ she said, smiling. โ€œTotally worth the trip.โ€

At NRVTA, Brenda found a welcoming environment where learning was hands-on and approachable.

โ€œThe instructors were patient and encouraging,โ€ she said. โ€œYouโ€™re not just reading about systems โ€” youโ€™re taking them apart, testing them, and putting them back together. You leave here knowing you can handle whatever comes your way.โ€

Empowering Solo Women Travelers

For Brenda, this wasnโ€™t just about self-reliance โ€” it was about inspiring others.

โ€œI want solo women travelers to be inspired and empowered,โ€ she said. โ€œI want them to know they can do this. You donโ€™t have to rely on someone else when something breaks. You can learn it, fix it, and keep moving forward.โ€

Her message is clear: โ€œBe brave. Stretch your comfort zone. Come here to the NRVTA, do the Fundamentals course, and become empowered to live the dream.โ€

A New Kind of Freedom

Today, Brenda continues to travel full-time, but now with a new level of confidence and capability.

โ€œWhat I love about NRVTA is that it gives you real skills,โ€ she said. โ€œWhether youโ€™re an RVer who just wants to understand your own rig, or someone looking to start a new career, you leave here ready for whatever comes next.โ€

Her story represents a growing movement โ€” one where RV owners, and especially women, are taking control of their own journeys.

โ€œItโ€™s not just about fixing your RV,โ€ Brenda said. โ€œItโ€™s about fixing your mindset โ€” realizing youโ€™re capable of more than you think.โ€
