How Rick Found Confidence and Freedom Through NRVTA - Learning to Inspect and Repair His Own RV

For many RV owners, the joy of hitting the open road comes with a few lessons learned the hard way. That was certainly the case for Rick from Alaska, who has spent his entire life RVing.

“I love RVing,” he said. “I’ve been doing it all my life. But over the years, I’ve made some pretty bad buying decisions. I didn’t get inspections, I didn’t know what to look for — and I paid for it later with expensive repairs.”

Rick’s experience isn’t unique. Many RV owners purchase their dream rig without realizing that an RV inspection can save them thousands of dollars down the road. Determined to learn how to maintain and inspect his RV properly, Rick began researching how to repair and evaluate RVs before buying.

That’s when he found the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA) in Athens, Texas.

Discovering NRVTA

“I stumbled across NRVTA while I was looking into how to repair my own RV,” Rick recalled. “I thought, why not check out this school and see what it would take to really understand how these systems work?”

At NRVTA, Rick found exactly what he was searching for — a comprehensive, hands-on training program that covered every aspect of RV systems, from electrical and plumbing to propane and refrigeration.

“For two weeks, we learned everything — from the roof all the way down to the undercarriage,” he said. “Now I really understand how these systems work and what to look for before making a purchase.”

Avoiding Costly Mistakes and Helping Others

For Rick, one of the biggest takeaways from his time at NRVTA was learning the value of a thorough inspection.

“I never want to buy another RV without having it inspected,” he said. “If I had done that before, I would have saved so much money. Now I know how to identify potential issues before they become big problems.”

Equipped with the skills and confidence gained at NRVTA, Rick now wants to help others do the same.

“I want to help other RVers make informed decisions,” he said. “If you’re thinking about learning how to inspect or repair RVs, I highly encourage you to come here. It will change how you see your RV — and it might just change your life.”

A Life-Changing Experience in Athens, Texas

From the beautiful state of Alaska to the training grounds of NRVTA in Athens, Texas, Rick’s journey shows that it’s never too late to take control of your RV experience.

“Anytime we move forward with another rig, I know exactly what I’m looking at,” he said. “That kind of knowledge is empowering. You can’t put a price on that.”

Whether you want to become a certified RV inspector or simply learn to maintain your own rig with confidence, NRVTA offers the education, community, and hands-on training to make it possible.
